Knowledge/experience is being sought,
My honeydo grew a 202 Jacobus '12 (168.5 Jacobus x self) last year. The 168.5 is a 239 Leonard x 260 Kent.
The main vine from this 202 was much bigger/thicker than other plants. The rooting from this vine was impressive as well.
My question to the watermelon heavy hitters: Does the above average vine fatness consistently correlate to bigger and heavier watermelons? (her melon was ~130lbs on side vine)
Also, what are some of the desired plant characteristics and what genetic lineages are apt to have them?
TY for your replies, John

a bigger better plant will = a bigger better melon. But the biggest plant will not always give the best mellon. So the correlation is not 100%. My best plant has NEVER given me my best melon. But its is always on a good plant. Make sense ?? The 350 was not grown on the best plant, the best plant grew the 270.
