The GWG committee has been forced into a very unfortunate situation at a time when we are very busy working on issues that need to be addressed for our club to move forward in a positive direction.

Effective immediately Mark Clementz "Handyhomegrown" and Dennis Masterson "Tennessee Dreamer" are no longer GWG members, and will not be members in the upcoming 2013 growing season.

They have both expressed views on this public forum that have been both insulting and demeaning to other members, non-members and the GWG committee, and these kind of comments will not be tolerated.

This has been discussed at great length by all the committee members over the past few days and our decision is a unanimous one.

There is no place for this kind of behavior in our club, and we feel this is a positive step forward as we continue to grow this great club, whose main purpose is to promote the enjoyment of growing giant watermelons, not to ridicule or attack the character of others.

The GWG is hard at work at this moment with many decisions that we feel will benefit the club as we move forward and continue to grow.

one thing i do know from reading the watermelon post for a few weeks.
you guys argue to much. no one wants to be a part of any organization that has that kind of turmoil.
to an outsider reading those posts? they would have to be nuts to want a membership.

Pap is right it's not worth it.I would rather grow kins anyway.These little green guys are a distraction to me winning 5 grand at multiple sites all over the place.I will reduce my melons & focus on kins for a couple years.If I when I succeed I will use the money to start a new club.It's a thankless job doing a club,you do all the work & everyone wants to change it to there way.lol.If & when I start a club it will be a 3 man committee me myself & I.lol No arguing except me & the fence post.lol!BTW The new vine idea there making you bring the vine to the weigh-off, my idea I told Marvin this months ago.There doing it lol!!& Hey Mr.Bartoli you are the World Champ & should be recognized I'm sorry you haven't been awarded by now.I heard Ray Waterman was treated this way 20 years ago by the new clubs.Thx Ray for starting the GPC maybe someday I will be recognized for starting the GWG!LIKE I DID! Know I will give you your forum back good bye & have great winter,I got kins to grow & show.Dennis let them have the forum in 2 months they will all be sleeping.lol

Ray Waterman founded the WPC World Pumpkin Federation in 1983. He still runs it today.

Ray Waterman did not start the GPC.
