Thanks Mark. It was a beautiful day and I am pleased as punch to have a new personal best. Frank Mudd is really a class act and winning everything in sight it seems. David Cantrell took second place with a 250.5 melon and also grew a new personal best and took first place and the Howard Dill award with a 1051.5 pounds pumpkin.

Also a big congratulations to John Brammer who grew a very impressive and fat looking melon that took third place and weighed 249.5 pounds. And it was great to finally meet Jake Holloway who drove all the way from Georgia to take a very disappointing 4th place with a 208.5 pounds watermelon. I only say that only because Jake came within one pound of setting a new personal best. It was still a great melon that came in in the money. Way to go Jake !

It was a great weighoff as usual ! Congrads to Frank Mudd. Nice to see him back with a some huge melons ! A great showing with 24 melons from 4 states. If you grow it, bring it to a weighoff. Its great talking to all the growers. Everyone there gets a congrads in my book. !

Thanks Jake. It was great to meet you too.I just wish you had gotten at least one more pound of growth out of your 208.5. Bear Wallow could be the best melon weigh-off in the country this year. It will be interesting to see what turns up at Yadkin next week. By the way, I think those are some excellent crosses you made.

I want to apologize to Jake Holloway. I remembered a 209 for him from last year. He actually had a 209.75. I was just looking back at last year and noticed that. You were still awfully close friend. I wish that 208.5 had gone 210 for you. :o))
