Will melons heal themselves over with Captan like a pkn will? I had to cut out an oozing split yesterday, so I packed it with Captan, like I would a pkn. Just wondering of its a lost cause, or will it possibly heal over. Too late in my growing season for this bullcrap!

I have had several young melons grow that have had a bite taken out of them by some kind of vermin. But I am not sure about more mature melons with oozing.

I think it depends on whether the source of the ooze is superficial or goes further toward the interior of the melon.

I had a couple melons go down this year from oozing...it oozed everywhere..finally got into the watermelon as rot and from there was over..even on trying to dig it out. If you have just a couple spots...maybe dig out with spoon and fungicide it and let sun dry it...hopefully you do better than the 2 melons I lost. Now they are Turkey food for MN Melon Man!
