2011 winners have been posted, a big CONGRADS to everyone ! This was the most sucessful year for melons grown & weighed at GPC sites with a 34% increase in the total number weighed over 2010. The number over 200 went from 20 to 29. Several growers made it into the top 10 this year who previously had never had one over 200. Great job !

I hope I live to see giant watermelon growing become as popular as giant pumpkin growing. We are certainly headed in that direction.

Congratulations to all of the top 10 growers....great job!!! This has been a outstanding year for this amazing newly formed club...It was great to be part of it's inaugural year!! Congrat's to all those involved in it's inception and a huge thanks for all the hard work put in by the volunteers to make the GWG a great success!! Top 10 in 2012, and the first melon over 250 lbs grown in Canada......that's my goal....someone is getting bumped out!! :)

You were close Wayne, Todd Dawson's 282 was the biggest in the world for 2011 and he weighed it at the Yadkin Valley contest in North Carolina. There were also a lot of melons weighed at Allardt where Chris Kent took his amazing 70" girth 274. It was a great year for Carolina Cross growing but I believe 2012 is going to be even a lot better.
