I am wondering what various growers on this forum did differently this year that they feel yielded positive results for them. The change that helped me the most was switching from plastic to landscaping cloth to control weeds. Also I controlled vine size and I feel this had a positive effect on a mediocre year.

#1 insect control...talster and bayer saved my butt for the squash bugs this year. #2 better rotation of fungicides, and spraying reguardless. #3 not over doing anything and preceding with caution( keeping a good log so nothing got doubled up or left out of the rotation. #4 watering a larger area than last year, even though my melons will still go light! And # 5 is something I have to do better next year, find cull melons, there is no telling how much weight I lost this year with culls.

used mycroo for the 1st time!Drip tape is Golden!sprayed fugicides for the first time on melons!Melons in Greenhouse for the first time without kins!

Drip tape, and landscape fabric. Next year I will get some 12 foot wide fabric and give them a little more room, and hopefully get them from the pot to the ground a month sooner.

Cooled down the females with ice at pollination time. 100% pollination take for melons I tried it on.

I use Peters soluble 20-20-20 and their 10-30-20 blossom booster and soluble kelp.
