Jake Holloway-209.75# Lloyd Bright 181.75# and Barbra(lloyds sister)-157# . The Washington State park was great. The park Staff were the most pleasant and nicest folks I think I have ever met. The resturant was also great!!! I hope that this weigh off site will grow and be a huge success!! Mike Cooper

Congratulations Jake on your first over 200 pounds melon. I'm sure it feels great to win first place. If I ever have a good early melon I may have to drive out there. It seems the only way to win is to go to a weighoff the Kents don't attend. Also, congratulations to the Bright family's winning second and third place. Without their hard work this GPC weighoff would probably have not happened.

Thanks Guys, It was nice to meet everybody there. I really enjoyed the trip, Everybody should try to go next year that can. You'll never find a place with nicer people! They know about southern hospitality. The Old Washington State Park is a great setting and Stephanie and the Park staff were great hosts. Plus I could listen to Lloyd talk about melons all day.

Everyone at the weighoff Saturday got to see a really good watermelon. Jake's watermelon was very uniform in shape with all the indicators of a melon that was fertilized and watered correctly. Considering the melon's genetics and its disease free appearance, Jake's melon seeds will likely be the hot seeds for 2012. Gardeners that self Jake's 208 will very likely have a chance of something extra special in the 2nd and 3rd generation of the self.

What a great day at the park! The farmers' market folks, the park staff and community members worked hard and they were rewarded with a wonderful first weigh off event. Of course, the event would not have been possible without Lloyd Bright, everyone that knows him knows why, an extraordinary man of integrity and a watermelon growing superhero!Jake, thank you for making the long drive and spending the day with us, you are welcome here anytime. We can't wait to see what you show up with next year! You guys start making a plan to grow a giant watermelon for next year, and hey, I think that pumpkins might be on the line up as well. thanks everyone! The Park Wife

Two hundred pounders are certainly special to grow. I won't hit it this year, since my largest tapes right now at 161.1 pounds, and the rest are just eaters. September is turning cold already with nights in the upper 40s and low 50s.
Congratulations Jake on a great showing.
