I had to pick my last melon today. It was still growing, but I found a soft spot on the bottom. I had intended to take it to hope this weekend. I cleaned out the spot and it was not through the rine. It felt hard after being under the fan for a while. It's not leaking. I posted some pics in my diary when approved. Could someone tell me if they will still accept it? I would hate to make the drive to get DQed.

It is a PB, was the first one of the year that was light. There was a lump in the sand on the back side I didn't see that probablly hurt it and it was nearly 40" long which didn't help. But overall guess I can't complain after all the trouble I had this year. I'll post the weight after it is officially weighed.

Jake' Pb is 191lb or 194lb, I believe. So I would say that superb melon is well over 200lb. Congrats Jake, that's a super fruit !

Nice melon Jake and congratulations. I think it should be accepted as long as it isn't leaking. What was the pollinator?

Great job Jake !!! I have seen spots like that on other melons .Always on the bottom the other thing i notice when i find a spot like that there is always a cricket under the melon.. Each cricket makes its own spot...

I'm just lazy sometimes I think. I'll answer my own question. The 291 Kent seed grown by Jake is pollinated by the 268 Bright. Sounds like a great combination to me.
