went to check out my melons today, looked great the 260 kent offspring was growing even in 100 degree temps, 110 index at 4 pounds a day . when I looked down I saw my sand was wet.It had a leak( broke my heart:( I was planning on taking the melon to Franklin Co. festival on the 20th of Aug. The melon was 28 days old, from a flower to 48in. girth 26 in.long, it looked just like the parent melon. I would have like to see that one mature. Thanks Chris and Ms Janet for the seeds. :( :(

Hi Jerry, we met at the festival in 2009, I hate to hear you lost a good melon, I know the feeling all to well. I will be there this year hopefully with a couple of good melons, my best looking melon is 34 days old with a 49in girth and 30in long, it is also growing 4lbs a day. I have another 29 days old 47in girth and 31in long. Hope to see you there! Cliff Knight

I know the feeling MR. Vaughn. Bad weather in the south last 3 weeks. I'm having stump problems on some really good melons. May never reach their potential.

Wet years are hard on the melons, its tough to lose the big ones. Hope you have others.

I have been losing pieces of my vines to vine rot. I have been trying to root them and it isn't working out well. I am hoping to get this stopped and still have a descent season.I hope it turns dry as that would help a lot.
