i seen in some daries that people got tapes under watermelons to measure. Why is that???? I thought you just tape them like u would a pumpkin,,,,Any help ,,,Thanks,,,,,,,,greg

It just gives you a girth measurement, and by putting them down early you never half to move the melon to get the measurement.

Yeah the girth is confusing when talking OTT, Ground to ground is the way!

The girth measurement is just a quick way for me when i get home late in the afternoon to do a fast check on each melons progress . i have a tape around each melon ..also carry a tape measure with me to get a straight line measurement on each..

It's a really nice measurement that just happens to have been left out of the typical OTT charts that are being used.
So by the way is straight length.
