I sure wish I could say I am am doing better. But between bad weather and a brainless grower, mine are so late it's just unreal to me. I have always been early in the past. I have a 9" melon set on a 194 Brinkley pollinated June 26, on a small vine.At nine days it's not growing that well and probably will not be a competitive melon. I have a 4" melon set on my 211 Boyette. That one seems promising and then a few more pollinated in the last few days some of which seem to be taking off.I'll keep working and see what I can salvage out of this season.

I'll be a little disappointed to get less than 100 pounds my first year, and shocked to get over 200...Putting my money on the young man from Georgia. No offense Mr. 312 pounds, Mr. WR, Mr. Dreamer, or any of the rest of you HH's. We'll see.

I've noticed my plants don't seem to have much trouble setting. I've got about four I'm watching since July 4 and 5, all have grown some since. Now whether the melons will keep growing remains to be seen, of course.

Is it a pain getting tape under melon??

7/9/2011 1:06:00 PM

Walking Man

Some growers just leave a tape under a melon they want to monitor the girth of.

7/9/2011 1:48:25 PM
