I think I remember reading on pumpkins to lay off spraying insecticide and fungicide while setting fruit, but can't remember where. I need to spray insecticide bad. Will it hurt anything on the melons?

Jake,I believe the reason for not spraying is to protect the bees and no other reason.

It included ferts and fungicides. I also noticed Tom's fert program said to stop all sprays during pollination. Wonder if it could burn the small females?

Ps. Holloway, whenever I spray...any type of chemicals...I stay away from the ends(tips)of the plant!!! New, and tender!!! Peace, Wayne

I just checked out your diary Jake and I must say you have very nice plants. Maybe the best you have have had at this time of the year? I think there are going to be a lot of very good results this year for a lot of different growers.

jake i think it is mostly so you dont kill the bees if you really need to spray do it right at dark. the dishwashing soap will work as good most of the time

Thanks Guys, Dennis I believe the three in the new patch may be the best I have had at this point. They grew really fast and look identical. Maybe the soil tests and amendments made an improvement.

Sounds great, I hope you are able to win one of those top ten prizes this year. I think you are headed in the right direction.

Thanks everybody, a storm hit this weekend and roughed them up a bit, so I'm filling in a few spots with secondaries. But maybe they'll be ok. Paul, their hiding under the cups. Just started pollinating end of last week.
