They were a little small, but should do well. She want to win the oct weighoff. So this late planting should work well unless its a cold early summer.

Go get him Janet! I didn't get mine in the ground until yesterday, now we have 3 cold days and nights to contend with but these things won't take off until the temps are up anyway. I was told recently that the melons won't really start going to town until you have to turn your air conditioning on at night and here in the mountains that might not be until mid June. By the way what did you plant?

Janet, all those raised beds in your diary look well prepared. Looks like the Kents are headed toward another banner year. I love your patch guard. I didn't see him guarding those extra huge melons you had in your patch back in the winter though. Must be why they disappeared so quickly. :-)

That really looks like a very unusual looking snake Wayne. It looks hairy and with kind of a pointy looking head. It must have been dead in the picture though because Janet didn't seem a bit afraid to be holding it. I'll have to be vigilant if we have ugly looking snakes like that running around these east Tennessee hills. Are they poisonous or constrictors Janet ?

The bamboo was an idea before the melons. i wish i had the area back, could grow 3 plants there. It expands by about 30% a year. Its going to be a problem soon. Its very pretty, but would take heavy equipment to get rid of it now.
