I had a seed open up as a tricot, so I'm already 50% ahead of my goal! Woohoo!

So instead of 300 pounds you're going for 450 pounds now, right? You don't see many tricots on melons. I had a friend tell me he had a 100 Masterson germinate as a tricot a few days ago. I hope it is a good omen for you. :0)

I had a pumpkin seed open as a tri cot this winter. It turned out to be a split vine right from the seed...not exactly a tri cot.It was very strange to see that I thought. After about 2 weeks it developed a small 4th leaf and you could clearly see the 2 vines. One side grew OK the other side was very very slow growing.I'v never seen a seed be a split vine from the get go before.I hope you have something special there and not what I had.It just might be that 300 pounder or 400 pounder...

a dicot plus one................

sprouts usually have two (within the seed) leaves to get the plant going until it grows its first true leaf

so a tricot is an oddity!

I did have a double melon vine two years ago. I let it grow and it straightened itself out after 6' or so. This vine went on to grow my 181.

We have a tricot this year also. We'll try to grow it this year to see how well it can do.

As we continue to cross breed these incredible growers, are we going to see more and more abnormalities? Peace, Wayne
