Not the old variety. All the seeds were lost years ago. Mr. Bright might know if there is anything close. They have some on their website. Mountain Hoosier is about the closest I know of. They tend no to be as dark, but easily get 100+

Dean did you find what your looking for. If you are just looking for dark rind I might be able to help.

I have seeds that came from you indirectly, Holloway. The pack says giant blue rind watermelon 2009.I am guessing it is as you say, not an old pure type. Either way, I can send some out if needed . There are 10 white seeds in the pack.

I don't think they are mine. I don't remember ever having a white seeded dark rind. All black or brown. Didn't grow any in 09. Could they be Dennis's seeds?

Holloway,The seeds did come with the bunch that Dennis sent out here. He wrote a note on them that they were from you.

Jake, those blue rind were from seed you sent to me last year.I wasn't planning on growing them so passing them along seemed like the right thing to do.

I am sorry if I put you in an uncomfortable position Dennis. Just meant to be helpful like you always are.

Thats no problem Dennis definately nothing wrong with passing them along, I was just filling Russell in on the breeding. I guess I just didn't remember any white seeded ones. I think by now all of mine have a little carolina in them. Still dark rind though. Some darker than others. They may not be as dark as a black diamond, but I'm going to keep picking the darkest one and see what happens.

I thought about crossing some of those from the giantwatermelon site to help the color. Any one know about what size they get?
