Was wondering after your seeds dry what color(s) do they turn to. I know most are a offwhite color but have any of yours turned out different then offwhite and if so does it make a difference.

all my seeds are off white and got them from the brights. He told me that some of them do come with brown seeds.

Mine are off white with brownish tips on some. The 291's are brown. Color makes no difference.

Was just wondering cause our 172.8's are brown and others that were coming into us were offwhite. Thanks for the responses. :)

Is seed color, a genetic thing, that can be tracked in any way? ie...Chris's 291 (brown seeds) was grown from a 239 (brown seed)? Peace, Wayne

Our 172.8(brown) was grown off our 155.5(offwhite). Which came from the 194 Mudd(offwhite).

Your brown color seed came the 259 Kent .Most likely your 155.5 was pollinated with the 259 Kent wich if i'm not mistaken are brown. So in my opinion your 172.8 is a 155.5 Finders x 259 Kent. but it was not a controlled pollination so we can't say the pollinator was in fact the 259 Kent, it remains an OPEN POLLINATED MELON

Kirk the 259 Kent didn't last in our patch. We had two 155.5's in the patch. We started the 259 in the patch but after about a week we pulled it. But yes the 172.8 was Open Pollinated. I need to contact Mudd and see if in the 194 background was there brown seeds, I'm sure there was somewhere. :)
