It is a soil Bourne disease, so unless you had the same compost source I doubt that there is any correlation.

I am sure thats true, that it comes from my own garden compost, especially compost that hasn't aged long enough. I was just thinking there could be a weather component or some wider area "life cycle" factor, as well. Thanks.

You probably did Russ. It's hit hard up there this year. It's such a nasty disease because there's very little cure.
