Second time using my Newtry injector and it sounded like a braying donkey (in addition to the clicking) by the time it was done. Lubricated the piston with cooking oil as per the terrible instructions and it seems fine again. Do you have to keep a close eye on these things to make sure they don't run the concentrate reservoir dry? Are proper Dosatrons just as loud with the clicking?

I have a chemilizer and the clicking is normal. I run mine dry all the time, I am not sure if that is good or not, but it hasn't seemed to hurt it at all.

Hola Craig. I have the fixed rate Dosatron and it also has the constant clicking sound. I know you went with Newtry because it was cheaper, but the fixed rate Dosatron is very reasonable. I paid about $300 for it two years ago. The rate is 1:100. I go through a gallon of solution for every 100 gallons of water which works for my simple understanding of watering.

I usually put a gallon and half of mix in the five gallon bucket and then pour any leftover into a watering can. I use a gallon and half so it does not run dry.

BTW...Your 885 is coming along nicely. Not as fast as the Tiger King but the 885 really likes the warmer weather and is catching up which hopefully will bode well in July and August.

Thanks both you two! Clicking I get is part of the setup; just need to make sure I don't run the thing dry if it's going to break on me; makes the set up a little bit less set it and forget it (especially for vacations) and I'm glad I put the bypass on my system.
Glad to hear the 885 is cooperating for you! Good luck!

I have a newtry and it makes weird noises if it is dry as well. I was told to screw the top off and spray it with a silicone spray that NAPA sells. I sprayed it on and it seems to really help.

I would not say that my Dosatron is loud at all, but the more it runs dry the louder the wheezing sound it makes which is why I try to make sure that the intake is always fully submerged.

It just sounds like your injector is louder once air starts getting pumped in instead of water.

My Newtry injector sounds like a pile driver but it worked great last season. I haven't hooked it back up this season, but plan to this weekend. I think, for the money it was well worth it.

I use Vaseline to lube my Dosatrons when they need it. Works well.
