I have a blemish about the size of a dime on my pumpkin. It looks like it's kind of open. Any remedies or do I just leave it alone?

Current protocol for success is to drop a 5 gallon bucket on them when they're young, so you should be fine.

Andy, I very nearly did exactly that but thought I would not chance it with your seed (2006). Two of my three biggest pumpkins to date had significant blemishes although I would hesitate to attribute their size to the blemishes themselves. Most scratches and nicks scar over naturally without any intervention but deeper wounds on a bigger pumpkin need to be dried out quickly and possibly dusted with sulfur or something.

It's about a quarter inch deep and the pumpkin is about the size of a volleyball.

It should be fine. It will develop into a decent sized scar as the fruit grows though so make sure to keep it dry. Scar tissue can be prone to rot if it's wet.
