What is your thoughts on 3 lobers. I have an early one that may or may not be the final choice. I never grew one out before and wondering what the thoughts are on 3 lobes. Good luck everyone its go time...

I have a two-lobe melon on top of my neck -
seems to be doing all right.
Not the shape I was hoping for, but...eg

The 2201 Wallace was a 3 lobed fruit. I heard that Ron grew it as a last ditch effort to get something on a plant that wasn’t cooperating. It was 17% heavy.

I saw that EG, I believe that was incomplete pollination.

my 1460 last year was a 3 lober at 13% heavy, the 2350 gienger was a 3 lober. I would have no issue growing a 3 lober in the future.

Ned, count those green spikes at the base of the flower. They will tell you the real story. 5 is normal and will grow you a perfectly good huge pumpkin. I think 6 or 7 gets you closer to a freak of nature.

I've got a 3 lober going on my pollinator plant (2200 Wolf). its not going to win any beauty contests, but its growing nicely - for a plant in 60 square feet of dirt. :D

The thinking on lobes has changed a bit over the years, I would go for it as long as everything else looks good.
i.e distance from the stump... I mean crown(I remember Joze), shape of pumpkin, good growth rate etc.
