So it looks like the cutting isn't doing too shabby after all, assuming it's the cutting and not the ipp3000. Hopefully it keeps it up

Cutting edge stuff from a cutting. I might have to pull my plants and go buy a seasons worth of popcorn and butter. Best of luck Patons.

Now I'm wishing I would have saved a cutting from last year's plant. I might have been able to squeeze another 7# out of it.
Not with the weather this year, lol

Maybe the highest bidding this winter will be on cuttings, not seeds.

Cuttings are hard enough to keep alive over winter without shipping them around to people who don't know how to keep them alive inside

What's the process of collecting and keeping a "cutting". Do you just collect a rooted node or what? I've cloned tomatoes easily enough but what's it take to clone a pumpkin plant?

I think what Rodebaugh did last year proved that if things are done right there is just as much potential for size in a clone as there is in the original. Major Major Implications for the future of growing. Imagine taking the biggest fruit from every year and sending out 50 clones to the top growers around the world. Not only will we see bigger pumpkins from the clones but the genetics of the monster pumpkins will get passed down with at much greater rate as those clones will be used as pollinators.

Well cuttings are much harder to manage than seeds until you get them situated. You have to keep rooting the new nodes, and eventually you'll have to cut off the old nodes or you'll end up with a 10+ foot vine. If you cut off too much of the root system the main vine will shrivel, or become stressed and terminate with only male flowers at the end.
