Now that we’ve digested 2022 and spring is around the corner what is everyone doing to hit their personal best this season?

Growing only one plant/kin a year I’ve been scared to really PUSH!!! I plan to pump more water this season especially dap10-dap60!

What is everyone doing different this season to GROW BIG?

I'm going to try to copy Dan Sutherland. I guess he thinks we need to figure out the biological side of things. As for (not) splitting pumpkins, check out the winter gpc newsletter!

Fewer of each, more time and care onto each and extensive vine-burying, for once...like everyone else knows to do.
Just like breathing - simple, but you gotta!
Thanks for the open-mic post---eric g

I'm going to spray every prune cut with hydrogen peroxide and let the cuts heal before burying. I doing away with making tents for pumpkins and just using double sheets for covers with blankets at night. Installing drip irrigations to feed and PH adjusting water etc. I was also thinking of using Mr. Stelt's method of proactively opening stumps before they get foam problems (that's still up in the air though)

One more thing: I plan to unbury vines in mid July.

Going to be a little more scientific about a few things.

@ Garwolf my theory was that foaming stumps are caused by condensation, cold water being drawn into the plant may actually cause a bit of condensation on the stump, and it doesnt take long to start to get mushy soon thereafter. Its hard to believe this could actually happen, but I saw it on an apple tree last year. The tree was sucking 50 degree water out of the ground and this cooled the trunk of the tree so much that it was dripping with condensation. Just had to mention this... I will hopefully shut up now.

(The idea of splitting the stump, it would increase the surface area and reduce the thickness, thus giving it a way to reduce the internal chill from sucking in all that cold water. Its the pumpkin plant equivalent of brain freeze?)

Earlier start date , supplemental led lighting, CO2 generation, green solar film mulch for heat and weed suppression....and like Andy said ,hopefully a little more scientific on stuff
