Anybody growing the Cutrupi 2702 this year? My plant is terrible, worst of the 9 plants we have going by far. The plan was to pollinate most plants with it but not so sure now. The main split into 2 smaller mains about 12 feet out, strange. lol

Greetings, my 2702 plant isn´t very strong, has some pretty slim secondaries, and whenever temperatures are getting a bit higher, this plant gets sunscald on the younger leaves (3rd leaf from vine tip, which just tries to become a decent leaf). Other AG plants (1875 Mendi and 1434 Wuersching) aren´t showing that unwanted behavior. Hence, I won´t use the 2702 as a pollinator. If it produces the best AG hereabouts this year, though, then the cross with its genetics will still be there in its own seeds.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that sounds a lot like my plant. it did get sunscald on the younger leaves too, and the vines are very thin. My 1940 Urena and 2517 Mendi's look great right now. And my 2276 Lieber has huge leaves and fast growing thick vines. So plenty of fun left in the patch :)

I have a 2702.9 in a 350 square foot spot as a genetics plant. The seedling was mediocre. The plant kicked into a vigorous plant with aggressive root system.Nice pumpkins set on it that seems to be growing fast.

Mine survived the 100+ weather fine. Very intense sun here too. Wouldn't say its stuck out to me as a particularly aggressive plant, but I'll be saving the genetics nonetheless

Cojoe had the same exact problem with my plant and know of
another person as well! As I was told by a champion grower he doesn't grow unproven seed!

It is encouraging to hear that my 2702 is not the only slow growing plant. I was really worried since I placed the plant in my best growing site. I have noted that it does have an aggressive root system. The pumpkin appears to be keeping up with the rest in my patch.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a smaller plant grow bigger pumpkins?

Thanks for all the replies! I like the idea of a smaller plant growing big fruit, hadn't thought of that. I can't get any females to form on the either of the main vines though. I did set one on a side vine and pollinated with the 2517 Mendi. I guess that's what I wanted to do anyway. lol

My 2702 is a slow growing plant, and it's young leaves are very susceptible to direct leave even at temps like 75F. The pumpkin is much denser than any of the other pumpkin in the patch, but the 2702 is the smallest and slowest growing pumpkin in the patch in physical size.

Above, I meant to say direct sun, not direct leave...

Seems like my experience has been the same as most others. Plus the fruit split about day 15.
