Unreal. Note to new people, do NOT compare your growing to the Patons. Your esteem will lose every time!

For the past 15 years they've had one thing in mind and one thing only,,,, hitting that world record!
They push harder and better each year and they will get there one day!! I wish them the best and hope its this year!
I know what just the greenhouse and automation cost on that setup, if anyone is going to hit one out of the park these brothers will!
Good luck gents and keep pushing that envelope! Its couldn't happen to 2 of the nicest growers out there!!
And again, thanks for continuing to post!! I know it got kind of messy on the boards last year.

Two of the finest growers out there... sharing and caring, hard working, leading the hobby forward, both class acts. There's a reason they are in the Hall of Fame, getting the GOTY jackets in Danvers'.... But there is one coat they dont have...... but really... they should grow a squash :)

Like Wizzy says, such good people! Such givers and willing to help whenever needed. There to answer questions wherever you ask!
Just don't use your landline to call across the pond! A 30 minute talk will cost well over 100,00 bucks from the phone company! Use your cell if it has international calling. When I saw that bill,,,,, lol
Keep at it boys, I don't hear the fat lady singing anytime soon!!

Chris , makes you wonder if the world record will ever return to the USA, since the last 3 WR records are from Europe, and I believe the last 4 official pumpkins over 2500 lbs (bummer Mike ) have been grown there...some top notch growers there that are very focused....

It does make you wonder Dale... We have a few guys here with the skills to do it though so you never know.
The Patons are laser focused on that record! I know 2 or 3 growers here, that with the right weather and some good luck could hit 2800!!
I'll stay with my personal best and trying to beat that each year!:):) I just love growing these things so much,,, the way the world in now most days I'm in the patch are my only quiet and fun days.:)
Good luck up there Dale! Watching your diary is one of my favorites for sure! The things you do with the conditions given are mind blowing!

Remember there was talk of the USA vs Europe team competition sometime after the 2323 was grown and some people thought the USA had too much of an advantage. The Europeans as a group did what it took to overcome that so now it is up to others to replicate their hard work. In this hobby never say never but how do I do it if your goal is the world record or GOTY.
Now get to it!!

Thanks Chris , I try ..lol, I follow your posts as well as each growing environment has different challenges, Its fascinating to see how people cope with it, you are doing a great job, Scott , I believe disease pressure shut the Paton bros down last year , knowing they couldn't get the results they anticipated, they pulled the plug...they got things sorted out and now are back with a vengeance, wouldn't be surprised at all if the biggest pumpkin in the world comes out of that patch this year

I remember that spudder, now look where all the WR's are coming from! I thought there was no way, but look how things have changed.
Dale, anytime! If I see a diary post by you I always click on it first! The preparation and all you do is twice the work most other growers have! Truley amazing to watch each year!;)

Super amazing, mind blowing numbers. Reminds me how magic these pumpkins really can get when you're dialed in with laser focus. Awesome to watch along, cheering on a 3,000 lber from Massachusetts. Keep pushing the envelope guys... and - don't forget to post that peacock bass once you catch one Ian!

70 lbs per day according to my pumpkin math is squarely on track for 2800. Looking good, we would all like to see that accomplished, 1885 Werner is the new 2145...
