You have to plan for the extremes. They heat up fast as soon as the sun comes out so youll learn to not leave them closed if your away for the day.You open them to keep the temps in the 80's ideally.

If it's sunny, open them up. Throw a temperature recorder in there and you'll see how quickly they can become an oven when the sun is strong.

To be safe from worry all day. I would vent them every morning regardless of temp. Open the cold frame less if it is rainy or cold, but like cojoe and cjb say. It doesn't take long for it to become an oven.

Thanks - I know they heat up quick. It was 43 this morning, I opened them up first thing.

Yep 43 won't hurt them. In the same boat have to open mine at 4 am. Was thinking switching to night shift might be better for them... but whatever. They'll survive. Cant trust the weatherman more than five days out of seven, so gotta trust your own instincts.

I'm thinking of removing them next Wednesday. Lows should be above 50 now and highs are forecast to be in the 70's.

When I say 43 wont hurt them, bit it will stall growth completely. If they spend most of the time in the optimal 60-80 range then you'll keep making good progress.
