As most people know i had a pumpkin here that estimated 2163 pounds and could easily have been the first one ton pumpkin in Canada which in my mind and everyone else would have been a very big deal. My question and every other volunteers question at the weighoff is why didn't we have a GPC rep in attendance ? If it was the first ton in Canada would it have been declared official ?

I do not see having a GPC rep at every site with a potential to break the 1 ton barrier for that Country as a realistic expectation. Our event in Langley B.C. Canada had Dave Chan whom had the very same opportunity to break the 1 ton barrier, growing a seed proven to be heavy to the charts. As a growing community the big goal is breaking the 3,000 pound mark.

Carl, no is my answer to your question. Id ask you, why would you need a GPC representative at every Weighoff site?

We’ve been running a Weighoff in British Columbia for a long time, non-GPC to start and we had the same rules, regulations and guidelines as the GPC has adopted today.

Dave Chan weighed a massive fruit yesterday and we followed all the inspection protocols we would have even f it were a non GPC event.

What spambie and Glenn said. We assign are oldest grower (35) years growing giants to act as our GPC rep every year at our GPC weigh off. Its up to this person to make all the calls. We can all have our opinion but having a main go to guy is key.
If we had an actual GPC rep at every weigh off we'd need 100's of free volunteers to step up and become GPC reps. This just isn't possible.

Great pumpkin yesterday Carl!!! I watched the video on facebook I think your wife did. Amazing accomplishment and just a couple pounds and you would of taken the Canadian record home!! I would be kicking myself and saying why didn't I water just a little more, maybe I should of fed more calcium, I would of been asking myself so many questions! lol

Again, great job and 2022 you'll get it!!!
