Hi! I have an Atlantic Giant still on the vine that is maybe 550 pounds. Plant is almost dead. The skin around the step and top is turning like a dark green, not soft, but a hardening green look to it. Not sure what this is or why that is happening. Rest of pumpkin is a yellow/orange. Any ideas on this skin change over is appreciated. Planning on taking it to my local weigh-off on 30th. Just hoping this green skin isn't having a negative impact to pumpkin. Thanks for your feedback!

Atlantic Giant pumpkins have been bred and cross bred with giant squash, so it’s not uncommon at all for a giant orange pumpkin to have some green colouring to it....nothing to worry about...just past genetics showing up.

Thank you! With this being the biggest one I have ever grown, I am being extra observant and cautious. Want it to make it to the fair!
