Where i mounded my pumpkins i have for 2nd time had mushrooms appear in the shady area under the leaves. I sprayed daconil on them and the surrounding area. There has been no rain lately, just hand watering. Should i limit mysef to spot watering only drier areas and hope the sun burns off the fungus. The general area itself isnot too wet, just in certain areas.but the mushrooms area within a foot or so of the stem.

Im assuming i should be concerned as shrooms are a fungus. My pumpkin mounds are a mix of compost, soil, peatmoss and manure

Probably nothing to worry about they are probably growing off the horse manure and not directly hurting your plant... if your plant is not totally healthy there could be other pathogens in the soil that you can't see.

Mushrooms are a welcome sign of a healthy soil you should not be trying to kill them. Mushrooms are performing the necessary task of breaking down the organic material into a state that is usable for your plant.

One other comment from your diary it looks like you are burying your main vine before the secondary vines can form. Not sure if that is really the case but that’s what it looks like.

Ok thanks guys,,, i do have a secondary on two plants now... thiugh i may have burried some to early.

With fungi there are "good guys" like mycorrhizae and bad guys like fusarium or phytophthora. But there are also neutral ones like the mushrooms showing up in your patch.
