To get the benefits from these two, will scratching it into the top inch of soil be good enough.I want to apply as the plant grows instead of all at once in the spring.

I'm no expert but apply at leaf nodes for best results.

I do have a vine bury mix but I have 50 pounds for each plant so I will use it over the entire area
