Team-Pumpkin

Everywhere there are growers

The 150 square feet pumpkin growing contest for 2017 is open ! Sharpen your skills and join the contest to see which grower can grow the heaviest pumpkin in only 150 square feet (14 square meters). A fixed patch size means you don't have to own a farm with acres and acres of space to compete with other growers. Can you beat the current record of 814 pounds in 150 sq ft? Many have tried but it still stands. The complete rules and prize structure are listed in the document at this link,http://www.bigpumpkins.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=180

Go for it Gordon..I had fun chasing Flat Norm all last summer. I may or may not be involved in the 150 contest this year. 704 pounds last year in 150 sq feet..with the bonus of the ugliest pumpkin award at Nekoosa. (I think it could have won the ugliest pumpkin everywhere). There have been Howard Dill Award winners also from the 150 patch. I am struggling with 3 full size plants in 2000 sq ft or 3 plants in 2000 sq ft with one limited to 150 sq ft with more tomato plants to fill the difference. Wish I had more land to grow on. Then there would be a 150 sq ft plant in my garden every year. It is fun.

Flatnorm had a 793 pound Howard Dill winner in his 150 patch last year. All ugly this year

I was planning to grow one pumpkin in 500 sq ft. along with a bunch of other fun stuff this year too - my wife an I both like assorted pumpkins, gourds and other autumn decorations for Fall and Halloween.
The question is - if I participate do I do one 350 sq ft and one 150 sq ft or do I do one 500 sq ft and one 150 sq ft and take away some fall decorations.

... I'll have to check with my better half. :)
