Jacek, I congratulate you on your first place and on your new Polish record. As I promised you, I`ll sending you some more 709.9Frei03 seeds (asap). I think they will do again a good job for you, with the 846x723 cross (=802Dill02) in their "background". Good luck for your next season - Peter

The 344lbs (156kg) pumpkin on 709,9 (why not 710? :D) grew for only 65 days wich makes it 5,2 lbs / day (2,3kg). It isn't fast compared to GIANT pumpkins, but in our, Polish conditions it is realy impressive.
I just posted aprox. 30 photos from festival.

Jan, Don't feel bad at all! I've been working to improve my soil for 4 years now adding trailer-fulls of manure and compost every year and my 790 Daletas still only grew an average of 6 lbs./day over the 70 Days that she lived....God bless her departed soul...LOL! She's now a Jack-O-Lantern in the driveway...
709.9 is very important Jan because it's higher than 709 but not quite 710....something like the 513.7 White 02....we growers can be picky sometimes I think but sometimes the difference between 4th and 5th place in Ludwigsburg is a matter of 200 grams so every gram or ounce is important. Michel

I understand it. Same as sports. YOu can loose a race becouse of 0.001 sec. NOw my pumpkins are laying in front of my home and all the people on the street can look at it. I used olive oil to make them shine :-D I was already in two newspapers and this friday (and then saturday and sunday) I'll be on TV. I alos won one of the gardneing magazines contest for best vegetable in the year (there will be some nice prizes).

Martin, you are right, it was "Jan van Rompaey" (Belgium) who grew my 709.9Frei03 seed to 401,0kg (884.1 lbs.) this year ---> That means you have to name the seed of Jan as follows: 884.1Rompaey04 ! - Peter
