Fingers crossed it wont happen again !!

we had early spring in Finland. 68-75 for almost two week and no its little colder. About 60´s and night temps 45. Hoping it warms by 20th when I am going to plant out.
One good thing about early heatwave, my 150 under hoop and going over 6 feet tomorrow or friday. I might be able to pollinate just after those Sweden greenhouse guys;)
Good luck to all fellow growers!

Almost no rain here since March. Not much sun though either. Last year my plants were already drowning about now.

Plants are growing very well here too. Last week I opened the smal greenhouse. temperatures are nice since the strong eastwinds stopped.
Brad, in May Belgum was hotter, but last weeks it is our turn. And you are driest place? What about us, april 20,4mm, may 8,7mm and june 10mm? 39,1mm in total.

Now 2 weeks it was very hot in Germany. Yesterday the warmest day. 37C ° Now heavy storms are announced. Strong rains and hail. In this Sasion there were already 10 x Hail in my pumpkin patch. The biggest Hail to pieces had the size of an ice cube.
Not to compare by the size of a colleague from South Dakota http://www.wzforum.de/forum2/read.php?8,1361479,1361479#msg-1361479

weather here in Ireland is similar to all of Europe. Cool, wet, windy. Certainly not suitable for growing outdoors. Outdoor temps average about 17/18 degrees, and nights around 10/12 right now, but the greenhouse is about10 degrees warmer during the day, and 2/3 at night, so I,ve got hope still. outdoor sunflowers an absolute disaster

Last night a real summerstorm hit the Frisian Ilands! Up to 8Bft outside the shore... The pumpkins survived all well, because the leaves of the 1297Ghaye are relative small and below the Ribes hedge which protected it nice against the strong winds.
Now after the storm it is a very promising afternoon and weather predictions are just giving the right weather for pumpkins now we need it most. :-)
Good luck to all!

I look to calendar.. it says August. I though August is summer month. Like June and July. I must have been wrong. Havent seen any summer in here this year.
But sure we had looong fall last year. Lasted untill this spring, which seem to continue.
So, are we still having spring or is it autumn already??
Someone tell me that.
At least not snowing. Yet. Ha.

For me a bad pumpkin year. I had from July to August, 7 weeks no rain. 7 weeks without rain!! With more than 26 C °. Now there were one week ago small few rains. Many plants have died. Daily I leave 500 l of drinking water in the barrels. And, besides, everything thought.... Leap year ... wet year. I can hope only for 2009.

At the moment it is 7°c at night and 16-17°c on daytime and the pumpkin keeps growing 2 to 4 kg per night. that is ghaye 1297, not bad at all. :-)
It must be the sunshine that causes this growth.
