I just saw Iwan's pumpkin in the Reformatorisch Dagblad, a Christian national newspaper in Holland. The text is (translated): "The 2 year old Mike Janssen is sitting on an enormous 280 kg pumpkin. It was grown by his uncle, Iwan Horde, from Leerdam. It is probably the largest pumpkin in the Netherlands, but that will only be certain after the weighoff on October 1. Horde has already succeeded in growing the largest pumpkin in the Netherlands twice."

Good for you Iwan, the Reformatorisch Dagblad is national. Mine was only in the regional newspaper: Nieuwe Dockumer Courant..., but mine was smaller :-) The conotation: 'It is probably the largest pumkin of the Netherlands', is an overstatement. Don't worry, Harry Poels (who has the biggest in NL in 2005 so far: >321kg)is from the Catholic south and will not read this Reformed Christian Nwespaper. :D :D :D
