This tool makes fertilzer recommendations easier to figure out how much you actually need apply:
Say your fertilizer recommendation says you need 2.3 lbs of nitrogen per 1000 square feet.
Say you want to add nitrogen as urea(46-0-0) = 0.46 lbs N per lb urea
Also say your patch is 800 square feet
Type this into your google.com search box:
2.3/0.46 lbs per 1000 square feet in lbs per 800 square feet
So you need 4 lbs of urea per plot.
Say your recommendation says 300 lbs per acre:
300/.46 lbs per acre in lbs per 800 square feet
So that's 12 lbs of urea per plot
************
try:
1/4 acre inch in gallons
1/4 (800 square foot) inch in gallons
500 gallons per (800 square foot) inches
12 lbs / (0.67 g per cubic cm) in cups Note: 0.67 g per cubic cm is the bulk density of urea (pretty light compared to most)
3 tablespoons per gallon in cups per 5 gallons
1 pint per 100 gallons in teaspoons per gallon
10 gallons per acre in gallons per 800 square feet
8.5 kW hours per square meter per day in kW hours per 800 square feet per day
(12*12 US fluid ounces) in gallons

Then type (or copy and paste) in any of the lines that look like conversions/calculations - one line at a time.
2.3/0.46 lbs per 1000 square feet in lbs per 800 square feet
Those lines are possible examples. You can convert/calculate just about anything if you get the syntax right. Sometimes that's tricky.
Sorry that was confusing.
