So far since Sept Ive tilled in 2 good loads of composted manure about 3" thick layered in total over the past 2 weeks Ive been mulching the leaves and grass clippins and tossing them into the patch as well, I tilled the patch this afternoon and shes now raised a total of 6" across entire patch area just from all the additives, I just came across some good 1 year old hoarse manure for FREE as much as I need, Should I grab a load and till it in Or have I already added enough for one year? I was thinking of grabbing just enough to add 2" even across the top doing one last final till in and letting it rest till May.. This should be plenty of time to break all this stuff down correct? ( almost 7 months )
thanks

I'd stockpile that old Horse manure. It might come in handy for vine burying next year. I wouldn't till it all in though since you have added a lot already.

Dave, sounds like you put enough in for now but do as Steve has suggested and stockpile some if you have room. If not, keep good relations with the supplier and you can go pick it up as you need it.

If I were you I'd add in the extra 2 inches maybe 2 inches more. The leaves will compress and decompose to pratically nothing by next spring. The manure will reduce also reduce but not to the same extent. Pile on the OM ... that's what we keep hearing... and that's what I try to do. The stockpile sounds like a good idea.

Ya I picked up a half load on the way home tonight, Its available whenever I need it so thats not a bad deal, I added 2 more inches to the top the ground is so wet now as its been raining all day that i'll wait till weekend to do my final last till in before the snow flys the remainder of the pile I put into my compost then the rest of it went along side my house were I grew the 378.5 This past year.
