Hoping the team here can offer some insight on my latest leaf woes. I think I may have gummy stem blight? It's spread from the stump out, and the dying leaves are now pretty close to my pumpkin on the main. Does the picture in my diary look like gummy stem, and should I go ahead and harvest my pumpkin now, before whatever is killing my leaves attacks the fruit? Or can the fruit stay on even if the adjacent leaves are infected? I'm only 45 dap, and would like to make it to an early October weigh off (even if it is last place!)
I'm on mobile so I can't link direct to the diary, but the pictures should be up today.

Looks like just old age to me.

Is it really as simple as just my old leaves dying? I clearly have no idea (which is why I'm on the new grower forum!), but I've lost my oldest 8 feet of leaves, does this happen to most growers? Or mostly rookie growers who mistreated their plants?

Yup..it can be that simple...most plants are showing their age this time of year...if you’ve still got one going you can’t be mistreating all that bad...that being said, no matter what, you can always grow a stronger healthier plant. Good luck the rest of the way!!

Got a really strong pumpkin plant, that has all the old leaves dying. It happens. The leaves are about 3 months old. In leave years, that's real old.....

Thanks for the reassurance! I had no idea, but I guess I should have suspected, same thing happens to the oldest leaves on my tomato plants too. I was certain I had some kind of disease and was seriously considering harvesting the pumpkin early!
Taking care of these dang plants is about like cutting your own hair, just put down the sissors and ask for help, before you really muck it up!
