Any concerns here? I think the leaf blowing around created pressure causing this split, i trimmed the leaf this will scab over right?http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=316515

if the leaf is now flexy because it has now a flattened stalk, it's probably not a problem at all and see down one or two posts about someone else's split in the stem. if the leaf has a SOLID stalk, i'd think about the fact that that leaf might be intentionally severed at the stem anyway BEFORE it starts to rub against the perfect skin of the fruit in a couple weeks; if you do NOT cut off the leaf ever so carefully as close to the stem as possible, perhaps simply stabilize and RAISE the stalk with 2 crossed bamboo stakes like you mean it, and the split will, like you say, scab over and therefore strengthen to the point of no problem anymore...but, it'll be a frequent adjustment, and a bit of a worry---eg

Don't think it is anything to worry about. Keep it dry. Probably just a growth split at stem.
