How many days after pollination should I expect some increased growth?

20 days after pollination, you will start seeing major daily changes.

At ten days you will be around 27 inches circumference if you have a whopper going, and 76 at 20 days. All points of reference are from the Ailts/Landry 1400+ pumpkin chart.

Thank you for the quick response.

Don’t worry much about day 10 numbers. As long as it is increasing in size at that point is all you’re looking for. I agree that around 75 inches circumference on day 20 is a useful benchmark. But still not all that important. To be over 110 inches circumference on day 30 (120+ even better) is a much clearer signal that your pumpkin has the juice. Without looking at the data I’d speculate that few pumpkins under 110 circumference D30 have gotten over the 1000 pound mark.

We don't worry about day 10 or day 20 numbers. Our 1959 was only 19" on day 10 & 68" on day 20. Back in 2009, we grew the #2 pumpkin in the World at 1678#. Day 10 numbers were 13.5" & Day 20 it was 58".
The real number to watch is how well it does between day 20 & day 30. That will tell you the real potential of the fruit.I also have noticed that our slower growing pumpkins usually goes heavy to the chart by at least 5%.

Good luck all.

how much should it grow between day 20-30?

Orangeneck's experience supports the Ailts/Landry chart conclusions. They have the average Day 30 at 120 circumference and the range of 110 to 130. I have found the day 10 mark of 27 to be relatively easy to meet with most of my pumpkins. IMO, the rubber meets the road trying to meet that 30 day mark of 110-130.

But then again, our Georgia State Champ is 1306. So if I ever get match that Day 30 goal one day then I will be on cloud nine.

Another way to look at it, if the idea here is to see if you're on track for a big one... take your highest lbs per day gain and multiply by 40. 2000 lb kins generally hit nearly 50 lbs per day. 1600 is 40 lbs per day, 1200 is 30 lbs per day.

Of course this varies with % hvy and diration on the vine, but it might be helpful. Once you reach your highest daily gain either the charts or daily gain x 40 can help you see about what you're on track to grow. Our weather has been cool and I certainly hope the highest daily gain x 40 will be a better predictor than my early DAP numbers.

Fyi: There are charts for calculating weight based on OTT. However, I still use the old circumference formula .001517 x circ (inches)^2.61374 which requires only taking one measurement.

I guess thats pretty far from the original question...

I bookmarked this thread from 2012. Your question is addressed very well by Pap (Dick Wallace). The numbers may vary from year to year but I find the explanation to be very useful.
