Sulfer and daconil. Im not sure which is better. Pay close attention. A fan also seems to often be necessary in high humidity locations.

Getting the stem wet or allowing rain on the pumpkin... is a big risk.

Short answer?...you need to feed the plant what it needs at the time it needs it..if your soil is close to where it needs to be(meaning either you’ve tested and gotten things right, or you know it’s good because you grow lush beautiful plants), then there are at least a few articles on exactly what some growers used to grow them over 2000lbs...for me, that gets confusing and takes away some of the fun...but a simplified version of what they do can grow you a pretty big pumpkin...sorry to hear that you lost last years effort...do you have an idea why it went down?...the problem prolly started long before you noticed..also, pesticide and disease control are almost as important as the feeding...hopes this helps...hard to answer that one without writing a book..

And as far as watering goes for beginners that are just “winging it”...<—-my favorite approach)..I know you hear guys watering 100,200,300 gallons a day...don’t just dump that much on because someone else does..they are able to do that because they grew the plants strong enough to take that much water...so how much water?...as much as it needs...but if you’ve done your homework, got the soil right, plant lookin good, you should see the plant suckin that soil moisture right up..good luck...
