This is my first year growing and it has been a disappointment to say the least. One of my major issues is the heat! I gave a few of the seeds I bought to a buddy who planted them in full shade and his plants/pumpkins are twice the size of mine. My plants are over stressed by the heat.
For next year, I am looking into an Aluminet reflective shade cloth. I read some research that says they can drop temperatures significantly more than a traditional black shade cloth. They are a bit pricey so I wanted to ask if anybody on these forums has purchased this product and had luck with it reducing extreme high temperatures. Thank you for you continued help.

Ive got aluminet over one of my plants. First season so the jury is still out though the pumpkin is growing well. I also have a misting system. My other plants have 23% white shade cloth. Ive used 30% black in the past. Id recommend the 23% white. Its also cheaper than the aluminet.

1 use 30% and 50% aluminet, 30% was not enough this year. I thought the 50% was too much shade, but It's growing a personal best for me. I was still getting over 25 pounds a day in 100+ degree weather, over a mile high
