I did my first pollination this morning..late planting...severe thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon with torrential downpours. Covered with ziploc and plastic chair weighted down. Anything else I should do besides pray?

Maybe a couple frozen water bottles set within a few inches of the little kin...too hot and they won't take...should be ok after the heat today...storms missed us by a mile yesterday...I'll pray with ya

Instead of covering with plastic bags, I just tie the blossom shut with string to keep the bugs out and keep rain off. Plastic bags might get too hot. A white Styrofoam cooler over the female when you use frozen water bottles helps keep the temperatures down longer. As long as your patch doesn't flood, rain shouldn't hurt.

Yeah I thought the same thing earlier. Tied shut and removed plastic because I know it will cook it. Just like an overheated green house or hoop house.
