My pumpkin has not put on a pound in almost two weeks. One side of it looks like a cantaloupe because of all the cracks. Is it possible for it to still be pushing out sap because of some other reason besides growing? I noticed this stuff is much thinner (like water almost) then the sap I was getting before.

Does it smell like rotten dead pumpkin flesh, with a putrid aroma. Fruit flies are also a dead give away. I have no sense of smell, and the flies are what tell me I have a split if I can not see it.

The smell is very mild, but it does smell like rotting pumpkin. No fruit flies.

So.Cal.Grower, I think you are making it look much smaller than it is. Looking forward to meeting you though!

Every time Ive seen a watery fluid coming from a pumpkin it was rotting on the inside to a putrid state, always wishing I had gotten rid of it a few days earlier.Large scoop shovel, a spaghetti strainer , and old shoes will aid in disposal.
HEY .....there's always hope !!

Maybe I should have mentioned that the its not the entire pumpkin that is leaking. Just an area on the back so far with some possible threats in other areas. I dug it out and it seems to only be on the outside.

Need some advice: I cut out the soft parts but I am not sure what to do with the area around it. It is darker than the rest of the pumpkin and not as firm, but it doesn't come out easy when I try to scoop it out. What should I do? Just tear it out anyway?
