A day or two before I pollinated, my vines slowed down in growth from 12" to somewhere around 6" and I have no idea why. It has gotten a bit hotter lately and my plants have been wilting a little everyday (need misters next year). Could the heat be the problem? I know they slow down a bit a few days after pollination, but this started before I even pollinated. I also have a leaves next to the new pumpkin that are wilting a lot even when they don't get any sun because I have a small folding table over it (for the fruit). My watering has not changed at all. Anyone know what might be causing this?

bigger plant, hotter days, watering the same?
How moist it the soil 6 inches down? How are you watering? Are you watering only at the stump? or the entire plant. Based off of what you have said, the plant is suffering and wilting it probably needs more water. If you have only been watering the stump you need to water the entire plant space and at least 5 ft beyond where plant ends.

By watering the same, I mean watering the same amount for a given area. The plant gets bigger, I use more water, but the amount for a specific sized area is the same. I am watering the entire plant, it is wet 6 inches down, and I am doing it by hand (unfortunately). Drip tape is something I could not do this year, and I really regret that...

Also, how big is the plant...?.. Some wilting could be normal... But sounds like a either to wet or to dry thing... I vote take big Country's advice

Oh, I would say the plant is around 200 square feet. I just pollinated, and if you look a few post down, you can see that some of my wouldn't come out...

Let it dry out a bit... Flagging I wouldn't worry about at that size unless it continues to get worse ...when you get to 400qsft and are flaggin.. Could be a different issue...good luck.. If yer soil is good sometimes less is more ...
