Hi, might be another basic question, but I have to ask. How long will the pumpkin keep it weight once removed from the vine. Mine has now finished growing, and our weight in still about 2 weeks away. Will it be ok to remove it from the vine and still stay at its current weight? Only reason for removing it is, just about all the vines have died off and grass is starting to move in. Any information is appreciated. Cheers.

Its better to leave it even if no leaves are left on the vine, that may not be true if your temps are high ,if its removed keeping it in a cool area is best, once removed it can lose 2 pounds per day.
When some growers do cut it they leave a few feet of vine before and after the fruit, they then stick the two ends in jugs of water to slow weight loss

Even if the leaves are dying, the roots could still send water to the fruit. Once cut off it could lose water weight. One good reason to cut it off would be sunny hot weather. If you cut it off, leave some vine on the stem and tape bags or bottles of water on it to keep the pumpkin hydrated. Keep it in dark cool place and consider keeping damp towels on it to prevent it from drying out.
