My plants are phenomenal, best looking plants you will ever see, I just can't get them to grow a giant pumpkin!

The "bigger plant-envy syndrome" happens every year.. hang in there. Its really not the size of the plant but the magic in it. You can grow a big pumpkin on a small plant.

True, I remember seing a 700 lber on a 105sq ft plant or somewhere near that. All said, I'm happy with mine, just trying to keep up with the Jones' ;)

I keep reminding myself that pumpkin growing is a marathon and not a sprint race. All of my energies this spring have been devoted to developing plants that have a great root system as opposed to large leaves and and a fast growing main vine.

Geez...I have Pumpkin Envy too! My plants are merely "OK", but I know the problem: Started too soon without a hoophouse. I now see exactly the problem, based on the clear data posted in diaries: Keep plant's soil temp and air temp warm from the very start! Sure we can fertilize no matter how teh seedlings are housed, but weeks of cool temps? Bad news! I anticipate my plants will be OK, but to see that Dale has a female already? WoW!
