I DID A SOIL SAMPLE AND IT WAS HORRIBLE- A 5.7 PH AND EVERYTHING WAS LOW. MY PATCH IS 1500 SQUARE FOOT, SO I ADDED 80lbs OF PULVERIZED LIME, 15lbs 10-10-10,11LBS GYPSUM,5lbs TRIPLE SUPER PHOSPHATE,3lbs UREA AND A LOAD OF MANURE. I FOLLOWED THE LABELS ON THE BAGS FOR SQUARE FOOT COVERAGE. WILL THIS BE ENOUGH TO JUMP START THE PATCH, OR DO I NEED TO ADD ANYTHING ELSE? IF ANYONE HAS AN EMAIL ADDRESS FOR PAP COULD I GET IT,I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR HIM. THIS IS MY SECOND YEAR OF GROWING AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE WHAT I'M THINKING ABOUT IS ON THE CORRECT PATH AND HE WOULD KNOW. THANKS.

If your pH is low and your organic matter is also low, consider mushroom soil. It is the one compost additive that will actually raise your pH. You have to watch the salt content but if you find a good source you are set. I've been using it for years and salts are still "very low". My pH started at 6.1 and is now at 7.3 so after 5 years I'm not using it for this season.
