Do I go around the middle of the pumpkin? Say the waist? or do I measure OTT? With all the diffent sizes I have no idea how to try and get an estimate of weight. The charts confuse me. Isn't there a simple way to do this?

No simple way Team B. Practice while there small, it's a lot harded when they get up over 150 lbs. Just imagine trying to do a 1000 lbser. BSD, David

Team B, it really aint that tough...if you got a giant, you might need a 2nd person...!!! Circ...awl the way around/parallel to the ground at the widest point. EE...start tape on ground at stem end, take tape over the top (OTT) to the ground on the blossom end. SS...start tape on ground on side & over the top (OTT) to the ground on the other side.Circ, EE, & SS measurements should be done at the max point. Add the 3 numbers together and you have yer OTT. Hopefully you are at 400 OTT, which makes yer kin an official Slunger!!! LOL Peace, Wayne

Don't go by the weights on the tape they are outdated. Use the chart as that is what we will use at the weighoff prior to hitting the scales.
For measuring large pumpkins without the help of a second person use painters tape. It will hold your measure tape to the pumpkin while you do circumference. It comes off easy without doing any damage to the skin.

Team B, have read..several times... recently that the tape w/ #'s on it is out dated. Measure Circ, EE, and SS...add em up and check 2008 chart for best estimates!!! PS...Grow em BIG!!! The scales tell the truth!!! Master Yoda, years ago said..."The BS stops when the tail gate drops!!!" Peace, Wayne
