I have three plants with about 6 true leaves. They are growing towards the sky but aren't tall enough to cause any concern that they might fall over and break the main vine. I noticed this morning that they are starting to get smaller leaves down at the stump. All three also have very small bright yellow spots on there 2nd true leaf but not on the youngest leaves. I cover them with the greenhouse every night and take them off during the day. I have also done some fertilizing with kelp and fish emulsion. Should I be doing any kind of prunning of these smaller leaves on the stump or just let it grow for now? Thanks for the help.

I hate to say anything as I am a newbie at these, but having alot of gardening under my belt, and considering where you'r located, I'd say easy on the fertilizer, maybe half strenght or less till the plant starts to run. It may also be effected by the sun (continue to cover during midday) and be sure to water at night. I hope this might help. BSD, David

Let those leaves grow.
Soon as the vine starts to take off, get some bamboo stakes & provide the vine some support. You can use two for an "X" support.

If you have some time check out some of the older diaries for hint / tips.

Good luck!

marty, PDX has a valid point...if yer main vine is growin skyward...it will need to be laid down gently...some support on the under side, is needed, or snappage could occur!!! Do preventive stuff!!! and GRow em BIg!!! Peace, Wayne
