I can tell I'm going to start to get powdery mildew on my plant I have two good pumpkins on it. I do not know how long till I get it bad but if I do can I leave the pumpkin on the plant and for how long? If I leave it on can it still grow with out the leaves?

My pumpkins continued to grow for at least a month last year with PM. I hosed it down regularly with Neem oil to limit the damage.

If you lose all of your leaves it probably won't grow much more after that. You can prevent the powdery mildew from getting any worse by spraying a 50/50 mix of whole milk and water on the leaves every week or so. If you do lose a bunch of leaves but your pumpkins are still solid they will probably last for at least a couple of weeks on the plant. We are in the process of starting a club in Southeast PA, e-mail me sometime, we'd love to have you join. alex@turniptruck.net.

It will slow the growth way down but you will still get some growth.

powdery mildew is a very slow death. its not like a fast acting disease ,etc. there are also many products that can be purchased to prevent having a powdery mildew problem -ever . tom at extreme pumpkins im sure can help with a product much better acting tham milk. id rather save the milk for my morning coffee.
