in the "growth" thread ,Zappa, asked "how much of the plant do you have shut down?
is this relating to terminating the secondaries ? I have not cut and buried any of my seconds. should i do this to insure max rapid fruit growth?
any tips on technique would be nice too .

I would cut and bury the secondarys at a desired length to promote maximum growth on the set fruit. What this 'desired' length is can vary depending on how much room you have. Cut the secondary vine just 'past' a leaf node so that your burying a tap root point at the end of the cut vine.

Others may have better info on this, but that's the approach I'd take.

IF you still have room in the patch, just pinch the growing heads off and make sure you secure the end of the vines somehow, I use bamboo sticks in the shape of and X to anchor down the ends till the taps take hold. I would bury as much of the side vines as I could and try not to cause any soil compaction in the process.

Do not deadhead all of the secs at once, only do a couple a day till they are all deadheaded. (Could push too much energy to the fruit to quickly and cause a split)

If you do have to cut a vine off, I would spray the cut end with alcohol then a fungicide to help prevent the end from rotting back.
